How does laser remove hair?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Laser emits a highly concentrated light beam lasting a few thousandths of a second. The light beam penetrates the skin without harming it and it is absorbed by the melanin in the hair. The absorbed energy destroys the hair follicle and the hair falls. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who can undergo laser hair removal?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Advanced laser devices give the opportunity to all skin types, in men and women, to undergo the procedure. Given that melanin is the agent absorbing the laser energy, it should be in abundance in the hairs. This is why white, blond and red hair cannot be treated easily. Dark hair on light skin is the ideal combination \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Which areas can be treated?<\/span><\/h3>\n

There is no limitation. Laser technology can remove hair from all areas of the body, including the face, legs, back and the armpits. \u00a0Even sensitive areas like the abdomen, the nipples and the bikini line can be easily treated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Is the treatment painful?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Most of the patients describe a momentary stinging sensation after each pulsation of the device. There is no need of local anesthesia or a painkiller.<\/span><\/p>\n

How safe is the procedure?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Laser hair removal is safe. Swelling and a light rash usually occur around the follicle, and last about 24 hours<\/span><\/p>\n

How many sessions are necessary?<\/span><\/h3>\n

The laser beam can destroy the follicle only during its active (anagen) phase of growth, but all hairs do not have the same growth rate. Given that different hairs enter their anagen phase in different times, more than one session is needed to cover all follicles in the target area. Most areas of the body need 6-8 sessions for the desired effect. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What happens after a session?<\/span><\/h3>\n

A moisturizer is applied to reduce the redness of the skin. You should use a sunscreen for the treated areas and avoid sun exposure. \u00a0New hair will start growing around six to eight weeks after a session, and a new session can be arranged. Waxing, halawa, or hair removal with tweezers between sessions is not allowed. If necessary, you can shave unwanted hair. <\/span><\/p>\n

How long do the results last?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Laser treatments offer <\/span>permanent hair reduction<\/span>. After the completion of the treatment, the results can be long term.<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you compare the laser treatment to other hair removal methods?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Shaving, waxing, halawa and hair removal creams are methods offering temporary results and must be repeated frequently. Electrolysis can offer long term results, but it is a painful, invasive and a tiring procedure. A laser beam can \u201chit\u201d hundreds of follicles each time and can cover an area in minutes, while electrolysis needs hours for the same area.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
