Acne is one of the world’s most common skin \u201cdiseases\u201d, affecting over 85% of adolescents by the age of 24 years and up to 50% of adults over 25 years of age. As a condition, it can exist for a long time and can produce lifelong physical and emotional scarring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Acne is the result of overactive sebaceous glands normally existing in our skin. \u00a0Skin becomes \u201coily\u201d and fills with white and black spots. Bacteria, normally existing in our skin, develop in these spots and cause painful inflammation (pimples with pus). Occasionally, the pimples burst (or we break them). If the broken pimples are large or deep enough, a deep healing scar develops, which remains for life. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are various acne treatments (soaps, face cleansers, antibiotic creams for local treatment, pills etc.) with different results. \u00a0Pills (usually isotretinoin) are the most effective but often have many serious side effects. <\/span><\/p>\n

What does Omnilux acne treatment do?<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the key bacteria responsible for the inflammation in the active acne spots is Propionibacterium acnes. These bacteria produce light-sensitive natural chemicals called porphyrins. If stimulated by light, porphyrins can neutralize the bacteria. Without the presence of bacteria, the inflammation will subside (spots disappear).<\/span><\/p>\n

In short, Omnilux emits the appropriate light beam to stimulate porphyrins which, in turn, destroy the bacteria. Inflammation and acne spots disappear. <\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Omnilux treatments are non-invasive. Unlike all laser treatments, they do not irritate the skin. They actually facilitate the body\u2019s own healing processes to fight acne.<\/span><\/p>\n
