When a man\u2019s breast is big and looks like a woman\u2019s it is an uncomfortable situation for the bearer and it is called gynecomastia. Such men have low-esteem and for example, they will not go swimming to popular beaches or they will always wear a shirt at the sea.<\/p>\n

This can be caused by the enlargement of the breast gland and\/or the accumulation of fat in that area. Either way, the psychological problem can be devastating, but the treatment can vary significantly.<\/p>\n

A few tests should be done before one goes on with the treatment. Some blood work and an ultrasound of the area are important to show us exactly what is going on.<\/p>\n

The treatment is always invasive.<\/p>\n

If there is only fat with a normal breast gland, then simple liposuction of the area (through a very small incision) will usually solve the problem.<\/p>\n

However, if the breast gland needs to be removed as well, then an incision on the lower part of the areola must be done, to gain access to the gland.<\/p>\n

The operation can be performed under local anesthesia in the doctor\u2019s office and it usually takes an hour to an hour and a half. A special compressive garment must be worn immediately after to minimize swelling and the risk of a hematoma.<\/p>\n

An antibiotic is prescribed for a few days and OTC painkillers are enough to treat any pain or discomfort, which normally are minimal. Smoking should be avoided for the first days or week.<\/p>\n

It is of paramount importance that almost all physical strain and effort should be kept to an absolute minimum for the first couple of days. Return to everyday activities takes 4-5 days. An intense bodily workout should be resumed after 3-4 weeks.
\nAny stitches are removed a week later.<\/p>\n

The result is permanent and very satisfying since it lifts the burden of a woman-like chest. Those men really feel like \u201cchanged people\u201d after such an operation.<\/p>\n<\/div>
